Chris Lytle wants a fight with Carlos Condit

The welterweight division in the UFC continues to be one of the premiere divisions in the sport, and with things starting to shape up at the top of the division, there are a number of possible exciting fights for the UFC to book. One of those fights could be between Carlos Condit and Chris Lytle, two always exciting and scrappy fighters, and it’s a fight that Lytle would really like.

Lytle said he’s targeting that fight after Condit’s knockout win over Dan Hardy at UFC 120 this month.

“I wanted to fight the winner of the Condit-Hardy fight,” Lytle said. “After seeing Carlos knock Hardy out, it made me want it even more. He’s looking really good right now, beating good people and he’s a really exciting fighter. That’s what I’m looking for.”

“I’ve always appreciated how he fights. He’s always coming forward, coming after people. He’s got a lot of tenacity, as we just saw he has knockout power, he has good submissions and he tries to finish fights. He even comes back and wins fights he’s losing. That’s the mark of a good fighter. Some guys fold under adversity. He doesn’t. Everything for a great fight is there.”

Lytle understands that his time to make a run at a title shot is now. He’s 6-2 over his last eight fights, with decision losses to Josh Koscheck and Marcus Davis in that span, but he’s now won four straight fights and hopes a win over a contender can get him there.

“It’s do-or-die time,” he said. “Hopefully you’re going to see the best me you’ve ever seen and I’ll put on some good fights. I just want to keep stepping up my competition level and fighting tough guys. I feel like it’s now or never.”

I feel with Lytle ‘s past wins it is now for him to take the next step. This would be a big win for him getting him closer to that title shot.
