The Baltimore Martial Arts Academy hosts a children’s Brazilian Jujitsu (BJJ) tournament at its facility every 4 months. The primary purpose is to help instill within children a competitive spirit, self confidence and life’s lessons concerning winning and losing. Every child comes away feeling good about themselves as each receives a medal and patches regardless of how well they placed. Kids that earn first place receive a nice trophy.
There were over 40 competitors spanning 8 divisions including children aged 5 through 13. For several children this was their first tournament. For others, especially for our children”s competition traveling team it was one of many. One little girl in particular, named Lilly, won her first BJJ trophy after 2 years of trying. Needless to say that she was very happy as well as her parents.
